Dr. Karen Hardy is an expert on performance and leadership issues in the public sector. She has been referred to as a “Visionary and Conceptual Strategic Thinker” – having the uncanny ability to see long-term affects of trends on the public sector. Dr. Hardy has published several articles on the subject of leadership and management, including topics focusing on information technology, risk management, and performance management. Dr. Hardy is a grantee recipient of the prestigious IBM Center for the Business of Government and has over 20 years of experience in the public sector.

Dr. Karen Hardy has experience which expands across various industries, including consumer banking, business finance, and procurement. Her former positions included working as a Banking Officer with Citibank and as a Purchasing Official in the public sector.

Dr. Hardy authors “Destiny, Dreams & Decisions: Empowering Women for Success”- which focuses on the power of personal assessment and “Building Self-Leaders,” which takes a look at the management succession process in the federal government and provides a model training program for addressing leadership issues.

Dr. Hardy is a scholar-practitioner and conducts research in the area of leadership, entrepreneurship, and business. She collaborated with researchers at Virginia Tech University and contributed to the new book “Mastering Self-Leadership: Empowering Yourself for Personal Excellence.” by Dr. Chris Neck and Dr. Charles Manz. Her research has been cited in the Journal of Managerial Psychology, Government Executive Magazine, and The Public Manager. Dr. Hardy received her Doctor of Education degree in Organizational Leadership and Human Resource Development from Nova Southeastern University and her MBA from Strayer University.
